EFT tapping is often described as needle-less psychological acupuncture used to access, and let go of, limitations with an easy to learn tapping technique.

EFT tapping looks strange and for those who try it for the first time might say it also makes them feel silly. However, the tapping technique could be a solution for alleviating stress, anxiety, depression, and other emotional health issues, and pain or health related conditions. Goals for weight loss or financial freedom may be addressed and the emotional limitations that impede reaching those goals, eliminated once and for all.

Emotional Freedom Technique: It's All About Energy

Developed by Gary Craig, EFT has been found to address energy "short circuits" in the body. Based on energy meridians that run through the body as noted in Traditional Chinese Medicine, EFT tapping re-balances points on the meridian lines that may be blocked for various reasons.

When these blocks are removed, energy flow is restored. The process of EFT is a gentle, non-invasive means of restoration of energy flow through the meridians much like acupuncture.

EFT Tapping Points

There are several EFT tapping points, which are as follows:

  • Eyebrow point: located at the inner eyebrow.
  • Side of eye: outer corner of the eye.
  • Under eye: under the center of the eye just above the cheekbone.
  • Under nose: in the indent below the nose and above the lip.
  • Under chin: below the lower lip in the indentation above the chin.
  • Collarbone: about 1-2 inches in from the "V" where clavicle and sternum meet.
  • Under the arm: about one hand's width down from the armpit, or approximately where a bra strap would be.
  • Top of head: center of the top of the head.
  • "Sore spot": upper chest near the shoulder.
  • "Karate chop": outer side of the hand below little finger.

(See the link "EFT tapping points" above for a photo of all tapping points.)

Learn Emotional Freedom Technique

EFT tapping is easy to learn, yet requires practice to master. To begin, note a desired outcome such as to address anxiety. Then choose the statements that may apply (working with an experienced practitioner may make the process easier at first), and tap on those statements.

For example: "Even though I am feeling this anxiety....... I choose to be calm and confident". This is referred to as a set-up phrase which includes a noted "problem" and the "affirmation." The karate chop point or sore spot are tapped on with the fingertips while repeating this phrase three times followed by tapping on the other points listed above.

Noting the degree of discomfort with the initial problem on a scale of 1-10 is advisable so that after each tapping round, an assessment can be done to determine whether the issue is decreasing, increasing or staying the same in intensity. Many issues will only need one round of tapping to eliminate the emotional impediment and others will require more.

Interesting article about tapping. I saw Helen Hunt use this in the movie Then She Found Me but didn't know much about it. Thanks! Peggy

Nice intro to EFT tapping. I especially appreciate your comment: EFT tapping is easy to learn, yet requires practice to master.

With most things, I bet we give up before we get to the mastery stage.
